We just returned from our vacation at the Tamarijn Aruba all inclusive resort.
Although we had a nice time, I wonder why they call Aruba one happy island. I didn’t find the people to be overly friendly. Most of the workers at the resort was not that friendly but there were some nice bartenders and waiters. Maybe it was just this resort. I will have to return to Aruba and try another resort in the future. The sunsets are beautiful in Aruba.
Transportation-When we arrived in Aruba we caught a cab to the hotel for $20.00. Make sure you ask the price before you get it.
CHECK IN
Check in was a breeze at the hotel. We stayed in room 2307 which was a far walk from the restaurants and pools but we were happy because we love to walk. If we didn’t feel like walking we just called for a golf cart to pick us up and it was there in less than 5 minutes. The beach front rooms were very romantic. The rooms were small but just the right size for us we only slept there and changed our clothes so we didn’t need a big room. The shower never got hot and was always cool.
The first two days the weather was not so great. It poured raining all day but after those days it was very nice and sunny. There is always a tradewind breeze so you never truly get really hot. I liked that about aruba but you have to be careful not to get sunburned.
Pool and ocean
It was never that crowded at any of the pools . We never had to search for a beach chair or a cabana. You have the option of using the Divi Divi or the Tam properties. You can walk or catch a golf cart back and forth.
Dining
Be sure to make reservations for dinner when you first arrive they fill up quickly. I am not a picky eater but the buffet was not good at all. The specialty restaurant food was good. We enjoyed eating at the Palm Grill where you cook the food on the table in front of you. The Ginger restaurant was really good. It is Asian food. I thought the entertainment people were horrible. They had a few games like the beer drinking contest and musical chairs which my husband participated in.
We rented the bikes for a day which was free and rode into town. We also caught the bus to the downtown and went shopping and ate at the beachfront restaurant for lunch. The garlic crabs were FANTASTIC!. We also went to Senior Frogs which was so much fun. There were a lot of photo opts there.
My husband and I did the couple massage at the Divi. It was just okay I wouldn’t recommend it to couples because it was nothing special. I wanted to have it done on the beach but it rained that day.
One night we decided to sleep on the beach and quickly learned that was a bad idea. We got bit all over our bodies by sand flees.
Tip: Bring a hat with a strap attached because of the tradewinds. Also bring water shoes because the beach is rocky.
