We arrived 9/13 -9/17 to celebrate my 44th birthday at Sandals Montego Bay.
Upon arrival to the MBJ airport we went through immigration which took us about 10 mins and went straight to the sandals arrival lounge. We were greeted with smiling faces and a welcome home from the staff. We then was escorted to a private cab to Montego Bay which was 5 mins from the airport. We thought we would have a problem because we first booked our trip to Negril but decided since it was a short trip to change to mobay instead. No problem at all. In fact when we arrived to the club level lounge we were informed
Accommodations
Because we were returning guests we were upgraded to the beach walkout suite room 953 which was a huge room with basically a private beach. When I first walked in I was so happy that I chose Sandals to spend my birthday. The view was beautiful. The bed comfortable. The refrigerator was stocked with drinks each day.
Beach
The beach was nice and clean. The ocean was a beautiful blue. A little seaweed but not too bad
The planes that flew by didn’t even bother me. Every time a plane fly by the staff stop what they are doing to do a wave. It’s so catchy that the guests including myself and husband was doing it also.
DINING
We liked not having to make dinner reservations I think there was one or two that you had to but the rest you did not nor did we have to dress up . It was resort casual which was excellent in my book.
ACTIVITIES
My husband is a diver so he did diving which is included in the pwhile I enjoyed two days of spa treatments. One day I did the facial and foot massage and the next day I did the swept away 80min massage. It was so amazing that I was snoring. The ladies in the spa were very professional and sweet, in fact on my birthday one of the ladies was not there so she called my room later to wish me a happy birthday. Then I received a cake with happy birthday on it in my room that night. We did a few water sports and lounged around the pool and of course the beach. We also made it to the beach party and 2 shows. The entertainment staff was fun. I got a free lime stone foot massage while sipping a coconut with a coconut drink in the sand. They also gave me some to bring back home along with a souvenir flowers made from bamboo. I like the fact that the beach is private so no one hassle you to buy anything or sell you illegal stuff.
SPECIAL DETAILS
the thing that really blew me away and made this trip over the top for me was at the returning guest dinner. We had a nice time with the awesome manager Carl Biviere who I didn’t even know was the manager at the time came over to talk with us. We were chatting about our stay and asking about our experiences and I casually mentioned that we would miss the Jamaican themed lunch because we were leaving the next day. He said no problem mon and called the head chef Mr Smith and asked him to cook whatever we wanted and he would even get us a cab to the airport the next day.
I have to say I was overly impressed when we received a call first thing in the morning from the chef inviting us to a special authentic Jamaican lunch that was being prepared for us. We were very impressed and couldn’t believe how special they made me feel on my birthday. Things like this is rare at some other resorts but not at Sandals. The lunch was absolutely delicious hats off to the chef and staff.
They made us jerk chicken, curry goat, ox- tails, rice and peas and festival. To “my friend” at the “soon come back desk” we WILL see you again. To the manager Carl you and your entire staff from the house keepers to the bar staff and the waiters are doing a phenomenal job. I will spread the word all around New Jersey and everywhere we travel about Sandals Montego bay crew. This was the Best birthday ever thanks to Sandals Montego Bay staff and their attention to detail.
