What an awesome fun place to vacation in Cancun
We stayed at Hotel Riu Peninsula from 5/17 to 5/21.
Checkin
When we arrived at around 2pm our room was ready. Since we were staying in the adult only section we checked in at a special desk where you are greeted with a cool drink and your name on a sign.
Checkin only took about 5 mins. We were given our wristbands and 2 keys. We left 1 key in the slot by the door which keep the air on and kept our room cool at all times.
We stayed in the adult villas room 2201 on the First floor. It was the suite room with hot tub on the balcony and jacuzzi tub in the room. The room is huge. The balcony is large we pulled 2 of the lounge chairs onto our balcony. I brought bubbles from home and soaked in the tubs. The hot tub on the patio is small and you don’t have as much privacy as the room on the upper level. Also you do not have a ocean view only the pool view which was very nice too.
Resort
What I liked about this resort is you can relax and do nothing or you can participate in everything. The adult only section is worth every penny. You get pool side service, they come around passing out little appetizers like caviar and shrimp ceviche. You don’t have to check out towels you just pick them up off the shelf and most of all you don’t have to get up at the crack of dawn to reserve chairs. We also had our own bar and an adult only restaurant.
The resort is extremely clean.
At the other side of the hotel is a swim up bar which is lively and fun for people who want to party and drink. There are several other pools around the resort. Wednesday is the foam party which starts at 3pm we had so much fun there. The entertainment staff was fun to party with and got the crowd hyped up. I felt like the oldest spring breaker. See video on www.caribbeantravelqueen.com/home When we got tired we went back to the peace and quiet of the adult section.

They have different themes each day and do the opposite activities at the Riu next door. Riu Peninsula can go over to the other resort to eat and relax and party. There is a market store over there and that gift shop has more things to purchase. The foam party next door is on Thursday 3pm. The all white beach party is on Saturday night with Party and drinks on the beach at 9pm. There is a different show each night at the main stage.
Beach
The beach area is small but nice and clean. There are plenty of chairs and hammocks. You can also sit on the beach next door. The ocean waves can give a little rough at times. I walked along the beach and climbed up on the rock.
Dining
Food is plentiful and good. You will never go hungry here. There is something for everyone. We ate at the steak restaurant and had lobster and steak yummy. Every Thursday is seafood night all you can eat lobster shrimp crabs clams and much much more. The coconut ice cream is delicious. There is a sports bar that stays open late night and the coffee shop stay open til midnight try the milkshakes in there.
I don’t have anything bad to say about the Riu Peninsula Cancun but I would say it is much better than the Riu Negril that I stayed at last year and I really love Jamaica. Fyi I got bit all over my body it look like I have the chicken pox. I did buy Benedryl from the market. My husband did not get bit at all. The kicker is I never saw any bugs so we don’t know when I got bit but they are all over my entire body and itch like crazy.
Tip: After you pass customs and get your bags people are going to be friendly and ask you who is picking you up. Say no thanks and walk outside. They are trying to sell you excursions just walk outside and find the signs of the company that you arranged transportation with. Unless you are interested in purchasing an excursion. If you want to take a taxi I think they charge 45 dollars 1 way.
