My husband and I decided to stay at the JW Marriott Cancun for his birthday weekend just to get away and rest. What a great choice we made. This resort is absolutely beautiful. I feel it’s for a more mature crowd. People are laid back and respectful. If you’re looking to party or for lively entertainment this is not the place for you. If you’re looking to just kick back, relax, and enjoy life then come here. The hard rock all inclusive resort is right next door and they seem to really party.

Check in was a breeze. I’m so bad with names but I’m gonna do better in the future because I think it’s important to recognize outstanding people.  The lady who checked us in was so friendly and engaging. We got there at around 11:30 am and even though check in was at 4pm it was not a problem.  We were offered to upgrade our room to a suite for 50 percent off so we opted to do it.

The bell hop explained everything to us as he walked us to our room. He was very nice and helpful. We stayed in room 701 Wow!! I think we had the best room in the resort. The view from the living room and the bedroom was breathtaking.

The suite is huge with two balconies, 1 1/2 baths 2 huge TV’s pull out couch in the living room, king bed fridge and wet bar. We couldn’t ask for much more.

Staff- The staff here is so friendly and greet you by your name. They called me to ask if I needed anything and made sure we loved our suite. When we returned from dinner we had turndown service. For my husband’s birthday there was a cake left in our room which said happy bday!  What a great touch by Marriott.

We slept with the slider door open and listened to the waves. What a peaceful sleep. I woke up to the most beautiful sunrise.

Dining/Food

This is not an all inclusive so you do have to pay for drinks and food.

The tap water is safe to drink at the resort and you can ask for cups of water. We ate lunch at BeachWalk by the pool. The fish tacos was so delicious.  My hubby loved the nachos and especially the guacamole. The breakfast buffet is worth getting especially if you get the package and if you’re not on the club level.  With the breakfast buffet you get mimosas which I didn’t know until I asked the second day.

The quality of the food was superb.  They had a mix of Mexican and American food.  Our waiter Daniel in the restaurant was such a pleasant waiter. We talked and he told me how much he loves working for Marriott.

We didn’t eat at the hotel we ate dinner at two local seafood restaurants which was very expensive over $150.00 a couple. I didn’t know Cancun was so expensive.

Beach/pool–  The beach was nice but the ocean was red flagged our entire stay so we relaxed at the pool and in the hottub. The pool area was nice and clean.  The lounge chairs were so cushiony and comfortable. As much as I travel these were the most comfortable chairs that I’ve ever lounged on.

We enjoyed our relaxing weekend and recommend this resort to couples looking to sneak away for some R&R.

All I can say is I already loved my Marriott chains but the JW Marriott Cancun resort and spa sealed the Deal for me. Can’t wait to become a platinum member.

Room Tip: If your budget allows, upgrading to a suite is worth the money.
