1. Book a “romance package” at a local hotel

One year my husband and I booked a package on Marriot.com and stayed at a Marriott Hotel that was about five miles from our house. That year they were offering a special “romance package” for the month of February. The package included a room with a Jacuzzi, a bottle of champagne upon arrival, breakfast in bed the next morning and late check out all for one price. That was a deal that we couldn’t pass up.
2. Look for Valentine’s Day specials at your local spa
Image: Pixabay Your local spa is always sure to have some amazing Valentine’s Day specials where you and your spouse can book a couples massage and spend the entire day being pampered. You can either book a couples massage or a full day package. One year my husband and I splurged and booked an elegant couples spa retreat at the Peninsula Spa New York. This 5 Star spa couples package included body wraps, facials, massages for two with a healthy meal included. The use of the spa, fitness center, and swimming pool with hot tub was also included in the experience. There was a full view of the New York City skyline from the relaxation swim area. What made it even more special was that particular day it snowed making the view that much more beautiful.
3. Have a Do-it-Yourself date night

Prepare a three course meal that includes your partner’s favorite appetizers, main course and dessert. Last year I found an easy to bake Duncan Hines perfect sized heart shaped cake at my local grocery store and it made a delicious dessert. You can set a romantic dinner table and ambiance throughout your home. Dust off those china dishes and grab those champagne glasses and expensive wine you’ve been saving for a special occasion and set the dinner table. Don’t forget to create a romantic mood by purchasing your favorite candle scent. My favorite scent is Bahama Breeze from the Yankee Candle store. This scent is so relaxing that it puts me in the mood to lounge on my favorite island. After the meal, you can continue the romance with a bubble bath for two.
4. Throw a romance themed party
Image: Pexels How about throwing a romance themed party for couples? Invite your favorite couples over to your home. You can have so much fun decorating everything with hearts and love quotes. Go to your local party or grocery store and purchase the decorations and balloons. You can play romantic board games with the other couples while love songs play softly in the background. Serve champagne and strawberries and finger foods for your guests when they arrive. You can opt to have a formal dinner or serve things up buffet style. At the end of the night you can give out romantic party bags to each couple that include things like travel size massage oil, tea light candles, small chocolate kisses candy and small heart shaped photo frames. You can make the party as elaborate or as small and intimate as your budget allow.
