Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac and Little Cayman, collectively known as the Cayman Islands, are one of my favorite places to have a romantic getaway with my husband. The islands are located in the western Caribbean Sea just south of Cuba. The warm tropical climate and crystal clear waters are just two reasons to fall in love with Cayman Islands. You should make sure it goes on your bucket list of places to visit with the love of your life.
Here are 3 reasons Cayman Islands should be on your bucket list of places to go as a couple:
- The beaches

Seven Mile Beach is post card picture perfect and it’s my favorite beach on the island. I love it because you can lounge and relax or take a romantic stroll for hours on the powdery white sand. You can take a dip in the beautiful, crystal clear ocean or stop and sip a delicious cold cocktail at one of the open air restaurants overlooking the water.
My favorite place to stop for a cocktail on Seven Mile Beach is Calico Jack’s Bar & Grill. This is a come as you are beach bar where cruise shippers and locals go to hang out, party and enjoy the entertainment. If you love taking selfies, this is the place for you. There are several fun places set aside to take photos in the front and back of the restaurant.
It’s also home of the unusual Cayman shoe tree. Its name comes from the hundreds of shoes that are nailed to the tree. The story is, people would have such a great time drinking and partying that they would lose a shoe and the next morning, in an effort to keep the beach clean, someone would find all of the lost shoes and nail them to the tree in hopes of the owners coming back to get them.

- Restaurants
The Cayman Islands are known for their exquisite cuisine. There are over 200 restaurants on Grand Cayman alone. Every year in October a portion of the restaurants on the island participate in Restaurant Week where restaurants offer discounts and specials. Restaurant Week is a perfect time to try a new or upscale restaurant especially if you’re on a budget.
My favorite restaurants
Duke’s Seafood and Rib Shack is one of my favorite restaurants on the island. Their all you can eat BBQ night is fun and the food is really delicious. Decker’s Grille and Lounge is our go to restaurant for the yummy unlimited lobster night. I also like The Sunshine Grille which is home of the kitchen sink burger and the best fish tacos on the island. It’s also budget friendly.
3. Sunset

The Cayman Islands have some of the best and most beautiful sunsets in the world. You will be amazed by the awesome colors. What’s even more amazing is that the colors change each night creating a different stunning sunset every time the sun goes down. You can sit right on the beach or watch the mesmerizing sunset from your balcony.
There are also many restaurants on the island that offer the perfect sunset views while dining.
For a very romantic dining experience at dusk, dine at The Wharf. This upscale restaurant is perfect for a date night. You can get dressed up and dine on the scrumptious fresh seafood, succulent lobsters and refreshing cocktails all while enjoying the perfect sunset views.
If you are there during feeding time, you can also feed the Tarpon fish. They also have a cool gift shop where you can purchase souvenirs
